Make Real Italian Pizza in Your Own Kitchen

Craving pizza? Skip the pizzeria and create your own authentic Italian pizza at home! With a bit of planning and our simple recipe, you can enjoy the true flavor of Italy right from your kitchen. Just remember, the dough needs about 2 ½ hours to rise, so give yourself enough time to prepare.

Homemade Pizza

Makes 4 pizzas

  • 500 g (17.6 oz) all-purpose flour
  • 7 g (0.25 oz) powdered yeast
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 300 ml (10.1 fl oz) water
  • Extra virgin olive oil (for greasing the bowl)

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
    • Gradually add water and knead the mixture until it forms a smooth dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.
  2. Let It Rise:
    • Lightly grease another bowl with olive oil and place the dough inside.
    • Cover the bowl with greased plastic wrap and let the dough rise for about 2 ½ hours or until it doubles in size.
  3. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 240°C (464°F).
  4. Shape the Dough:
    • Once risen, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently.
    • Divide the dough into four equal pieces.
    • Cover with a clean cloth and let them rest while you prepare your toppings.
  5. Par-Bake the Crust:
    • Roll out each piece of dough into your desired pizza shape and thickness.
    • Place the dough onto a baking tray and bake on the lower rack of the oven for 10 minutes.
  6. Add Toppings:
    • Remove the par-baked crust from the oven and add your favorite toppings.
    • Return the pizzas to the middle rack of the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crispy.
  7. Enjoy:
    • Slice your homemade pizza and enjoy the delicious taste of Italy!

Buon appetito!
