The perfect example of something that is more than the sum of its parts, Italian bruschetta is simply toasted bread with a topping of your choice. However, with quality ingredients and a little attention to detail, it can be the most delicious way to start a meal.

The red of the chopped tomatoes, the black of the summer truffle, the creaminess of gorgonzola cheese with slices of pear, the emerald green of freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil, the darker shade of red with the crushed sun-dried tomatoes, the whiteness of burrata with anchovies, or capers with basil, toasted “lard from Colonnata”, grilled zucchini.
