Local Aromas Highlights of 2018
Our Favorite Foodie Moments of the Last Year
2018 was an exciting year for Local Aromas, with countless memorable experiences from appearances on tv and radio to growing our business to bring our love of Italy’s food and wine to even more people. So as the year draws to a close, we are proud and happy to look back on some of the highlights of 2018.
Here are some of our favorite moments of the last 12 months:
Expanding the Local Aromas Family
The Local Aromas family of foodies continued to grow this year with not only more guests from all over the world joining us for tours, tastings and cooking classes, but also new relationships with local vendors and deepening friendships with existing ones. We also continued to expand our own team with more handpicked guides and chefs who do such a great job in sharing their passion.
Participating in the BioSagra for Kids
In September, we took part in the annual BioSagra charity event which sees the top chefs and restaurants in Rome gather for a day to celebrate food and family, with proceeds going to the local Bambino Gesù hospital. We were more than happy to join in by organizing mini cooking courses for the children in attendance. An amazing day, and for a very good cause.
Being Recommended by International Guidebooks, Blogs, and Press
We were very proud to see Local Aromas featured in some major international travel guides this year, including USA Today 10 Best, Lonely Planet, and the 2019 edition of Rick Steves Italy. We also continued to work with food and travel bloggers and journalists to spread the Local Aromas name across the globe.
Starring on Italian TV
Founders Valeria and Benedetta made their television debut back in November on Italy’s Real Time television show Cortesie per gli Ospiti in which teams compete to provide the perfect home dining experience. After showcasing their talent for entertaining and cooking, the Local Aromas sisters strode to victory and took home the winners’ trophy!
Hitting the Airwaves
Local Aromas co-founder Benedetta went live on radio in October to chat about olive oil, wine, food, and all things delicious with the celebrated blogger and journalist, Maria Pasquale of HeartRome. You can still listen to the episode on the Radio Food Project podcast online by clicking here.
Launching New Tours and Experiences
As Rome’s food scene changes, we too like to keep up-to-date with gastronomic trends and new openings, so we are regularly adding new tastings and locations to our catalog of tours and updating our existing experiences. This year we have launched a range of new activities to keep our tours fresh, fun, and exciting.
What’s Next?
We intend to make 2019 even bigger and better with plenty of new plans and adventures in store, so watch this space!
